5 Ways to Generate Instagram Leads

Instagram can be a fantastic platform to build an email database of prospects since there are so many built-in features within Instagram that allows you to capture people’s contact details.

But first you’ll need to set up a landing page to attract Instagram leads. In other words, a page that allows you to collect people’s names and emails and store them in your CRM system such as aweber or mailchimp.

The purpose of the landing page is to convince people to share their details with you in exchange for something of value to them such as tutorials, video content, software, tools, templates, check lists, resources, consultations, etc…

The first Instagram marketing strategy to get leads is through your Instagram bio.

Since Instagram doesn’t provide the opportunity to publish clickable links in Instagram posts, use your Instagram bio to display the link to your landing page.

Your Instagram profile bio is prime real estate and you have to ensure that the information you include, entices people to click on the link.


You need to be selective about the information you’ll share in your bio because you are limited to 150 characters. So make sure only what is the most important information is shared. Ideally, your Instagram bio should reflect what you do and how you help people.

When writing creative Instagram bios, avoid focusing too much on talking about how great your business is, instead make it about your target audience and how they can benefit from following you on Instagram and of course how they can benefit even further when they click on your link.
 

2. IGTV

The second Instagram marketing strategy to get leads is through IGTV.

IGTV is Instagram’s new video platform where Instagram users can watch vertical videos or upload vertical videos. It is the equivalent of Youtube for Instagram users.

Any Instagram user can create an Instagram TV channel, and upload videos for their Instagram campaigns.

However, videos must be between 15 seconds and 10 minutes long but larger accounts and verified accounts can upload videos up to 60 minutes long, but they must be uploaded from a computer.

Thanks to IGTV, you can run Instagram campaigns and promote your landing page because you can include a clickable link in the description of every video you upload and you can also create a video that includes a call-to-action to go to your landing page, and even add captions on the video with the link to your landing page.

When creating videos for your Instagram TV channel, remember that they don’t necessarily need to be fancy. You can simply use your phone and edit the video if needed using easy editing tools such as iMovie.

What is important in a video when marketing through Instagram is the lighting and sound quality.

3. Promoted Posts

The third way to get Instagram leads is through promoted posts.

Promoted posts means paying to advertise your posts to people who are not your followers.

This Instagram marketing strategy allows you to reach more people fast, and the more people see your posts, the more likely they’ll browse your profile and click on the link of your landing page.

Create a post about your landing page and in the description, add the call-to-action to click on the link in your bio. That way you increase your chances of people checking out your bio.

In the post description also list all the benefits of them going to your landing page and securing your offer. Your post description can be quite long, so add as much information as necessary to convince people to follow your call to action.

After you’ve published your post, click on “promote” if you have an Instagram business account. If not, convert your account into a business account to be able to access the boost post feature and capture Instagram leads.

Then you’ll need to select where you want to redirect people to, who click on your post. If the aim of the promotion is to get more clicks to your link, then choose “your website”. Then you’ll need to decide who you want to target.

You can either let Instagram decide based on the demographics and psychographics of your followers or you can decide manually who you want to target, according to their age, gender, location and interests.

The great thing about this feature is that Instagram will automatically format your post to display it on both the newsfeed and stories and will run it where it’s performing the best, so you won’t have to do anything to optimize your promoted post.

4. Instagram Stories

Another effective Instagram marketing strategy to attract leads is to use the Instagram stories feature.

Instagram stories is a feature that lets people publish videos and photos that disappear after 24 hours. Unlike your usual Instagram posts, Instagram stories don’t appear in the newsfeed. Instead, they appear in a bar at the top of newsfeeds.

Since Instagram stories can only be 15 seconds long and since they disappear after 24 hours, it’s a great opportunity to use them to promote your landing page without cluttering your profile with promotional posts.

When you create an Instagram story as part of your Instagram strategies, you can add a clickable link through its “swipe up” feature.

When people swipe up on your story, they get redirected to your designated link. However, for you to have access to the swipe-up feature you have to either be a verified account or have at least 10,000 followers.

5. Instagram Influencer Marketing

Lastly, to attract a significant amount of Instagram leads, you can run Instagram influencer marketing campaigns. Influencers are accounts that have a significant Instagram audience that matches your target audience.

If part of your Instagram strategies is to pay an Instagram influencer to promote your account to their followers, this can significantly increase the number of people who click on the link in your bio.

When running Instagram influencer marketing campaigns, some influencers also agree to promote other people’s links in their bio for a fee, so it’s definitely an opportunity worth exploring with them.
